In our Carmona private trip we will discover why Carmona is one of Andalusia’s oldest settlements and inhabited since prehistoric times. It was transformed into a well defended city by the Romans, further fortified under Moorish reign and knew a third period of splendour when the discovery of the Americas made Seville and its surrounding area the richest region of Spain.
This half day trip from Seville consists of a private walking tour of the beautiful white village of Carmona and the tour of an olive mill with an olive oil tasting.
First, we will contemplate its Islamic structure from the top of the Seville Gate, which dominates the entire old medina.
Walking through its labyrinthine streets we will realize that we are in a typical white village of Andalusia, enriched with churches and convents financed by the bourgeoisie and nobility of the area.
We will enter the Prioral de Santa María, a huge cathedral that surprises with its location in a small space.
Then, we will go up to the National Parador, in the old Alcázar del Rey d. Pedro, where we will be surprised by an unexpected view of the fertile plain of the Guadalquivir.
Finally, after a brief break for a snack, we will visit a traditional oil mill and perform an oil tasting.
